Hydrogen peroxide (H?O?) is an unstable oxidizer that will readily decompose into water and oxygen, given the right catalyst. A catalyst increases the rate of a reaction. In our reaction, we used potassium iodide (KI) as the catalyst. When mixed with dish soap, the rapid production of oxygen gas creates a hot oxygen foam with the appearance of toothpaste. However, when the mixture also contains a flammable liquid such as alcohol, it creates an even mixture of fuel and oxygen. Because of this, it burns more very quickly, to the point where it is basically an explosion.

Over all chemical reaction:

H?O? + KI ? H?O + KIO
H?O? + KIO ? H?O + O? + KI
C?H?OH + 3O? ? 2CO? + 3H?O

The first two equations describe the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide into water and oxygen. The third equation describes the combustion in the explosion.

Hey guys, and welcome to the new site!

It’s been up for a while now, but I’ve been tweaking it a bit. It’s finally in a (nearly) final state. Still need to fix the size of the header image, add the automagic Twitch widget in the header, and spruce up the comment section but it’s done besides that! We’ll be posting more content, so please stay tuned to this site. If you have any comments/suggestions feel free to leave them in the comments section! Fun fact: So far, we’ve had one site redesign a year.

We’ll hopefully have lots more content coming out soon, just waiting for the pooping capture card to ship…

PAX Prime 2012!

Hey, nerpers here! PAX Prime passes went on (actual) sale today. Zeke bought his pass last week, and I have now bought mine. For those who don’t know, PAX is an annual gaming convention organized by Penny Arcade in Seattle, WA. This year it will be held Labor Day weekend, August 31-September 2. We Zeke and I will be there all three days, and Dylan will be there Sunday, so ~~if you can’t afford the $65 three-day pass~~ you can ~~get a $35 one-day pass and still~~ meet up with us. This will most likely be the only convention any of us attend with year, so if you want to meet us, make sure to come! Heck, even if you don’t want to meet us, you should come, as there will be people who are actually internet-famous there (like chuggaaconroy), along with all sorts of game demos and panels and the like. Passes went fast last year, and they promise to go even faster this year, so make sure to register soon. The website is http://prime.paxsite.com/registration.php.

Edit: Holy crap, three-day passes are GONE. If you want a one-day pass, get it NOW!

Edit 2: Only Sunday passes are left! This is pretty unbelievable, and doesn’t bode well for next year. If you want a pass, get it TODAY or you’ll miss out.

Edit 3: Last edit, since all passes are officially sold out. Your only option if you want to go now is to look on eBay, Craigslist, and such, but be aware that there will be many fake passes being sold alongside any real ones. Zeke and I snagged three-day passes, but Dylan was lazy and got stuck with a Sunday pass.

Zelda Marathon 2!

Hello, this is Kemper, a.k.a nerpers! We haven’t updated the site in a while, but we’re going to try to be more active about that (or at least I will >_>). Our YouTube channel is still going strong, with Season 2 of Minecraft and a two new Let’s Play of Four Swords Adventures with me, Dylan, Jalen, and Zeke (which will be updating soon, I swear) and Portal 2 Co-op with just me and Zeke. There may have been other stuff that’s gone up in the interim, but that doesn’t really matter.

In other news, we are in the final stages of planning our second Zelda Marathon. The dates have been set for January 6-8, Friday through Sunday, starting at 12:00 PM PST and going for 48 hours. Games will include Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, ~~various runs of~~ sequence-broken Twilight Princess, ~~Minish Cap, A Link to the Past,~~ and the newest addition to the franchise, SKYWARD SWORD. ~~If Zeke starts going crazy, we may also have a brief appearance of Metroid Fusion. Cuz, y’know, Jalen and stuff.~~

That’s all for now, I’ll probably be making a test post from my account sometime this week. As always, the public Minecraft server is up at thenerdgamers.dyndns.tv.

Hey everybody, I’m just here to give you guys details on the minecraft party night. We’ll have the server on from 9-10ish PM PST to whenever we go to sleep and we’ll put the IP here the day of the event. We’re doing this to raise awareness for our Zelda marathon later this year. We will also be streaming it.
